1st PBS Virtual Design Summer Course

Supported by Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), we at the Faculty of Design at Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology in Poland (in Polish: Politechnika Bydgoska im. Jana i Jedrzeja Sniadeckich / PBS) are organizing a week of the 1st PBS VIRTUAL DESIGN SUMMER COURSE for students of Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication programs of studies from 9 countries under Central Europe Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) agreement.

The mission of this event is to develop didactical cooperation between CEEPUS member countries, in particular to this event; Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova and Poland.

This Virtual Summer Course bears title "ASSISTING DIFABLE AND ELDERLY PEOPLE THROUGH DESIGN", and will be conducted on-line through MSTeams from 9 till 14 October, 2023 (six days).
There will be only one university (design school) from each country, represented by 3 (three) BA/MA design students and 1 (one) design lecture.

The program consists of series of lecture on types of disabilities, issues on barrier-free environment, integrated living and universal design with practical workshop of design research to create concepts of products, interior or graphic design that assists the daily life of difable and elderly people.
All lectures and workshop will be conducted in English.

In relation to participants, as mentioned in the description above, during the practical workshop the three students are representing, or will be divided into three different fields of design (Industrial Design, Interior Design and Visual Communication). We also encourage Fashion Design students to participate. The participating lecture can be from any of these field.

The participation in this event is free of charge, and as this event is financed by CEEPUS, in accordance with the standard CEEPUS scholarship rates under the category of for "virtual mobility in Poland", for this 6 days event, each participating BA/MA student will receive a grant (one-time) amounting 625 PLN (+/- 136 Euro), whereas each participating lecturer (with PhD) will receive a grant (one-time) amounting 1500 PLN (+/- 327 Euro).

Poland is represented by the organizer: Faculty of Design at PBS, with more than three students and lecture, and as regulated by CEEPUS, no participant from organizing country receives this scholarship.

Design workshop will be divided into three categories, and each category will have three groups consisting students from different countries. In carrying out design projects all groups will as well get reviews and consultation with lecturers from different countries.

  • A. Industrial Design: Group I, Group II, Group III
  • B. Interior Design: Group I, Group II, Group III
  • C. Visual Communication: Group I, Group II, Group III

Design concepts as the result of this workshop will be displayed in an on-line exhibition for 3 (three) months. All participating students will get equivalence of 2 ECTS from the subject of Specialized Design.
Lecturers and students will also receive certificate of participation.
